Whatever its real origins are, Roulette - meaning "small wheel" in French has become the most popular game of chance and has since become a standard icon of casino gambling.

There are different types of roulette played around the world but all of them share the same basic tools for the game: the roulette wheel, a small ball and a table with numbers from 0 to 36 corresponding to the numbers on the wheel itself.

The French roulette table would have a single 0 digit, while the American roulette table would have a "0" and a "00" on it. Players are called to place their bets on a number, or a set of numbers. After all the bets are placed, the wheel is set in motion and a ball is thrown into it.

The game is truly exciting as there are a lot of possible bets that can be done on the roulette. The "Inside Bets" are the riskiest types of bets but would have the higher payouts. Some examples of an inside bet would be on a single number (a Straight-Up Bet) or a bet on two adjacent roulette numbers (Split Bet). Another type of betting is the "Outside Bet" where your chances of winning are higher but would usually mean lower payouts. Some typical outside bets would be on either the red or black numbers (Color Bet); either the odd or even numbers (Odd/Even Bet); or on the low or high numbers (Low/High Bet).
